Retinal vein occlusion is the second most common retinal vascular disease after diabetic retinopathy. The etiology and pathogenesis is still unclear. Macular edema and retinal ischemia is the main cause of vision loss. The article illustrates the advancement of retinal vein occlusion treated with medicine, laser and surgical treatment and mentions the prospects in the future.
