Metformin is a drug commonly prescribed to treat patients with type 2 diabetes,which leads to a burst of interest because of lifespan-extending properties. The key molecular of health-promoting properties as yet remained elusive. In this paper, we make a brief review of mechanisms about how metformin acting on human body, and make a forecast about the application prospect of metformin in the treatment of the aging in ophthalmology.
